Mary Simun, a Los Angeles native, relocated to the South Bay in 1997. She “retired” from the classroom in 2015 and has redirected all her resources into community service. Her continued mission on planet Earth is to inspire humans to experience a life-long love of learning, discovery, curiosity and child-like wonder.

She began her formal education career at age twelve at the Cabrillo Marine Museum under the tutelage of John Olguin and from that point forward, education and science always went hand in glove. She is passionate about immersing young people in nature to combat Nature Deficit Disorder.

She is passionate about this planet and her current personal goal is to become 100% fossil fuel independent. If you see her zooming about town on her solar-powered E-assisted bike, complete with pink leopard helmet, wave hello!

Secretary

Kevin, an attorney born and raised in the South Bay, has always been an ardent supporter of environmental issues and ocean conservancy efforts. While in Boston attending law school, he found an outlet for these passions through university environmental law groups and within his own academic pursuits, authoring an article on the effects of climate change and rising sea levels on financial institutions. Now back on the west coast, Kevin is excited to focus on local efforts to clean our beaches and oceans, reduce plastic use, and to advocate for change in the communities he has called home for many years.
