The goal is to have Lauderdale by the Sea pass and implement a single use plastic straw ordinance which will help keep single use plastic straws from entering our marine environment.
In the fall of 2018, our Broward Chapter activists began advocating for a plastic straw ordinance in Lauderdale by the Sea. The reduction of plastic straws helps to decrease the need for fossil fuels, which are used for these wasteful and lightweight single use plastics which often end up as litter in our marine environments.
On February 12, 2019, the town voted unanimously to pass the ordinance!
