Manhattan Beach Polystyrene Tray Ban

This polystyrene tray ban is aimed at eliminating all forms of polystyrene and expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam in Manhattan Beach. EPS foam is targeted because it's typically the toughest item to collect at beach cleanups as it often breaks into small pieces. This ordinance is the fourth time that the original ban on polystyrene at restaurants in 1988 was expanded to include things such as banning the retail sale of polystyrene citywide, including packing materials and egg cartons, and now to include banning meat trays at grocers and similar retailers.
